Court rules Prop 200 will go to voters

Proposition 200 is the most contested measure facing voters this November. Thursday a judge ruled it will be on the ballot after opponents challenged it. Supporters of the "Protect Arizona Now" or PAN initiative say after today's ruling they're one step closer to victory, while opponents say they haven't even begun to fight. "It wasn't discouraging," says Melanie Emerson, a prop 200 opponent. "No, not at all. It was a very late date. I think it was an understandable decision." Earlier today, Judge Margaret Downie ruled it was too late to challenge the proposition since many Arizonans had already voted. The PAN initiative is aimed at keeping illegal immigrants from voting and collecting state services. Supporters say the lawsuit was a cheap blow by the opposition. [more]
