George Bush Is No Leader
This silliness about Bush being a strong leader has gone on far too long. Has anyone noticed that he's been on the campaign trail for months, while the economy is struggling, Iraq falls deeper into chaos, Osama bin Laden is still on the run, and our ports are virtually unprotected? Does anyone remember his leadership skills when first notified that the country was under attack by terrorists -- those excruciatingly long seven minutes so masterfully captured by Michael Moore? Has everyone forgotten that he was on vacation more than any other president, a time that includes his daily briefing that warned in no uncertain terms that Osama bin Laden was planning attacks on America, and that aircraft may be used? And have they forgotten that when he had the chance to be a wartime leader he chose to play it safe, to shirk his responsibility -- little as it was -- to join a political campaign? It seems so. And just like the "big lie" that is more easily swallowed than a small one, Bush and his anti-democratic thieves continue to shout that John Kerry is unfit to lead, that he is afraid of terrorists, that we should be afraid of him. Have we forgotten, too, that Kerry is a war hero for displaying precisely the kind of bravery and resolute action Bush claims is missing? I'm referring, of course, to Kerry's actions in Vietnam, when he turned his swiftboat head on into the enemy, risking his own life to serve his country.
