Racist Suspect: Jay Nixon
Information
Offending Conduct: Jay Nixon (D), the Governor of Missouri, willfully and deliberately demonstrated a willingness to participate in action and speech to establish, maintain, expand, and/or refine the practice of White Supremacy (Racism) in the areas of Economics, Law and Politics. Nixon refused to appoint a special prosecutor in the case of Michael Brown, an unarmed Black teenager shot to death by a white cop. He did so despite the fact that the white prosecutor appointed to the case, Robert McCulloch had never prosecuted a homicide case against a police officer during his 23 years on the job and was the son of a police officer who had been killed while on duty.[MORE] Following the slaying of Michael Brown for several days, the governor was completely M.I.A. Only after it became clear that the city was about to burn to the ground did Nixon abandon his photo-op speaking schedule to go do his job or issue a statement. [MORE] He then issued an executive order authorizing the Missouri National Guard to use force on Black protesters and he declared a state of emergency in Ferguson. Nixon also selected Black Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson to be the "head of security." He did this to manipulate or pacify Blacks - as the Ferguson Police Department is over 90% white. During the entire Ferguson episode Nixon constantly showcased Johnson, parading him around for photo ops using him like a potted plant. [MORE]
Jay Nixon has overseen the state's involvement in the court settlements that ended mandatory urban busing in St. Louis and Kansas City's public schools.
Under the pretense of working to represent the interests of Black people, Nixon has worked to produce injustice. Although he had the opportunity and the ability to give constructive help to Non-White people he refused to do so. Rather his speech and conduct directly or indirectly promoted the maintenance and/or refinement of the System of White Supremacy (Racism) in the area of Law and Politics.
