Jesse Jackson's Son gets Profiled: Cops stop, frisk son, 2 associates

Jonathan Jackson, a son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, was pulled over by police in Little Village on Tuesday night in what his father calls "a classic case of [racial] profiling.'' Jonathan Jackson said he and two acquaintances -- also African-American men -- were ordered to exit his car. They then were spread-eagled, frisked and escorted into the back of a squad car before their release about an hour later. "Hands spread, legs spread, patted down,'' he said. Jackson, 38, a partner with his brother Yusef in an Anheuser-Busch distributorship, as well as a partner in a wireless retailer, said there was no reason for the stop in the largely Mexican-American neighborhood. The next day, Jackson checked the car for anything that might have attracted police attention and noticed the license plate sticker had expired about six months ago. But the officers never mentioned it, he said, and police did not issue him any citations. The police Office of Professional Standards is investigating his allegation, said spokesman Dave Bayless. "Department policy clearly states any form of biased-based policing is not a legitimate law-enforcement tactic,'' he said. [more]
